General Information About Computer Classes

Our courses are designed to teach students the computer skills that are in demand in the current job market.  We teach beginning and master level Microsoft Office and Web Design and Development.  ROP computer classes will enable you to pass pre-employment tests, get a great job, and be more productive in your career.

In today's competitive job market it's essential that you are skilled in the Microsoft Office Suite in order to find employment.  In addition to knowing Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access more employers are looking for candidates who have a basic understanding of how to update and create Web pages and design graphics.

In the Web Design & Development course you can learn to create and manage your own dynamic Web site or a site for a large corporation.  The graphic arts classes will teach you to create professional brochures and publications, edit your digital photos from a scanner or digital camera, and create stunning logos and other graphics.

If you are having a difficult time finding employment or advancing in your current career due to a lack of computer skills, then our program is for you.

Because our program is flexible, students may select just the software programs they need to learn.  Students may enroll for a refresher course in Excel or to master Access; it's up to you.

ROP adult classes are tuition free our training programs are funded in the same way as the local community colleges. Students only pay a $45.00 registration fee per nine-week session. Books are purchased as students progress through the training. Students may attend up to 36 weeks in order to learn the skills necessary to find employment. Our classes are free to high school students 16 years or older. High school students may earn one unit of elective credit for every 16 hours they attend class.

While there are group start dates four times per year, the courses  are open entry/open exit depending upon availability; students may enroll throughout the year and leave at any time.  Completion of the course takes from two to eight months depending upon the course of study and the student's prior knowledge of computers.

If you would like more information about our classes, call 925-942-3436.

Attendance

The ROP is a part of the California Educational System, administrated by the Contra Costa County Office of Education.

Our funding is based on student attendance like the Community Colleges. When you attend class we receive funding, if you do not attend, we do not receive funding.  This is why it only costs $45 to enroll in our program. Because of our funding source, your attendance is critical to our program.

Our classes are designed to prepare you for a professional working environment.  Adults in the ROP classes do not have "excused" absences.  Just as employers require their employees to be on the job every day and on time, ROP also expects students to meet this requirement.   Students are allowed a maximum of 4 absences per nine-week session.

How to Enroll

Enrollment is easy!  Call Christine at 925-942-3436 to schedule an orientation appointment (orientations are held frequently).

Students pay the $45.00 lab fee when they enroll in the program and purchase books as they progress through the training (Cash & checks accepted, sorry no credit cards).
